The primary goal of Rancho Coastal Humane Society is the adoption of animals into permanent, loving homes. The adoption process is tailored to find the best match between pets and people. After finding that perfect match, prospective adopters learn about responsible pet ownership such as health care, nutrition, grooming, exercise, socialization and the importance of the human/animal bond.
Adoption isn't all we do! Over 15,000 individuals benefit every year from our Humane Education programs and workshops. These workshops encourage and reinforce caring and compassion toward animals, and also teach proper companion animal care. We also offer programs such as the Animal Safehouse Program which provides temporary foster care for victims of domestic abuse, as well as the Second Chance Program, which gives pets from other shelters a second chance to be adopted.
In April 2003, we launched the opening of Cricket's Corner Community Dog Park. With almost an acre of enclosed space on the shelter grounds the park is a place to bring your canine companions and family to have some fun.
Last but not least, the Thrift Shop. It’s not just a great place to shop, it’s also an important source of funding for the programs and services provided by the shelter. Donations of new or gently used merchandise are welcome at the shop located at 120 Aberdeen Drive in Cardiff, during regular business hours, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. When it’s time to move, remodel, clean out the closets, or clear overstocked inventory at your place of business, remember your donations to the Thrift Shop will help save the lives of homeless pets.
